Beach Training Permalink (June 2009)

The weather looks good for Sunday so the beach training is a go!

Sensei Takahashi will teach a special class on Robert Moses Beach this August 30th.

Bring your Bo.
Note: it is likely that we will get wet, wear a bathing suit under your Gi.

The class will be at Robert Moses State Park Beach on Long Island beginning at 8:00 am.

We will meet at Field 2 (Over the last bridge, go right, follow the u-turn at the end of the road, and then Field 2 is the first one on the right). Once you are in the parking lot, go to the far right corner (facing the water) closest to the water (the SW corner). The class will be on the beach in front of this spot.

There is a picnic area adjacent to the SW corner where there are tables and BBQ grills.  We will picnic here after the training.  Please bring food and drinks to share.

Note:  The cost for parking is $8.00 per car.

Sensei says that it is ok if you would like to wear an old belt (white belt, or the belt of your previous rank) so that your current belt is not ruined by the salt water.

The rain date is Aug 30, but the weather looks good so far.

Also, an easy way to get to Robert Moses Beach is to take the Southern State Parkway to exit 40S Robert Moses Parkway.  Follow this to the beach.  From the 495 take the Sagtikos/Sunken Meadow South to the Robert Moses Parkway.

Directions to the Beach from the Dojo.
